Hyper Thyroidism + Goitrogenic Foods.

These are naturally occurring substances in some foods like the Brassica family – broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kohl rabi, turnip, kale – and soy products.

Goitrogenic foods can function like an anti-thyroid drug and slow down the thyroid

.

If you have either a hypO or hypER thyroid, you don’t need to avoid goitrogenic foods entirely, but goeasy if you’re HyPER. The enzymes involved in the formation of goitrogenic materials in plants can be at least partially destroyed by cooking, allowing you to enjoy these foods in moderation
